NOMADIC LIFESTYLE, EARTH, United States
After getting my first passport in 2006 and traveling to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania my life changed. I began the process of getting rid of all my possessions and traveling the world. Traveling to over 125 countries and all 7 continents, hostels have been my home. This "new life" has taught me what is important and it was NOT accumulating money or possessions. Traveling is the best education. I hope my blog will encourage others to travel. My World Tattoo was a way for me to express my PASSION FOR TRAVEL.

BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro

 March 15-23, 2022

After visiting beautiful Iguazu Falls,  I flew to Rio where I was staying in a dorm for 8 nights located only 1 block from Ipanema Beach. Walking the beach, tanning, beer and socializing at the Hostel Bar in the evening was my daily routine. I also did a day tour that included visiting Christ the Redeemer, one of 7 Wonders of World, and Sugar Loaf Mountain.

BRAZIL, Iguazu Falls

 March 9-15th.

Left Guatemala on the 9th and arrived in Rio de Janeiro early on the 10th. Few hours later I was back again at Iguazu Falls after an 11 year absence.  Stayed at really nice hotel in private room with a pool for $20 a night due to low tourism. The hotel also had a dinner buffet that was crazy cheap at about $4.

The weather was not cooperating and there was rain the first 2 days. Sunshine predicted for day 4 of my trip but the Park is closed on Monday, of course. I took my next best shot and went on Sunday . While overcast, the day was perfect with no rain. I got there early by taking a bus and 2.5 hours later I left. Brazil's side of Iguazu Falls  is much smaller than Argentina but supposedly has more picturesque opportunities. Good time,  leaving for 8 nights in Rio on the 15th.

BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer

Went to Corcordoba Mountain today to see, Christ the Redeemer, 1 of the New 7 Wonders of the World which is on the very top of the mountain and overlooks Rio. Incredible views but unfortunately the sun was behind the statute and my pictures of the statue are not great. The statue is about 240 feet tall.

BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Sugar Loaf Mountain

After the free breakfast at the hostel, I caught the 511 bus to Sugar Loaf and caught the tram up to one of the most scenic spots in Rio. About 2000 feet high.  Pricey at about $28 but have learned to accept that Rio is just crazy expensive even if backpacking. Stayed a few hours just taking in the scenery and caught the 512 back to the hostel.

First tram used. So glad I did not have to ride up in this.
