NOMADIC LIFESTYLE, EARTH, United States
After getting my first passport in 2006 and traveling to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania my life changed. I began the process of getting rid of all my possessions and traveling the world. Traveling to over 125 countries and all 7 continents, hostels have been my home. This "new life" has taught me what is important and it was NOT accumulating money or possessions. Traveling is the best education. I hope my blog will encourage others to travel. My World Tattoo was a way for me to express my PASSION FOR TRAVEL.

PORTUGAL, Sintra , Quinta da Regaleira

August 5, 2014

While in Sintra, Portugal I visited this amazing 20th century complex that includes lakes, parks, grottoes, tunnels and the palace and chapel. The interior of the palave was very unusual and I had never seen anything quite like it.

PORTUGAL, Sintra, Pena National Palace

I had 6 days between my the end of the Group I guided trip to Europe and start of Group 2 guided trip. I decided to fly to Lisbon, Portugal since I had never been there. Lisbon was beautiful but I was not prepared for Sintra, Portugal which was a short 30-40 minute train ride. Below is a article on Wikipedia and then my own pics of the castle.

The Pena National Palace (Portuguese: Palácio Nacional da Pena) is a Romanticist palace in São Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra, Portugal. The palace stands on the top of a hill above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is also used for state occasions by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.
